Blogging in 2019

You know the people or maybe you’re one of those people. You know the ones — the people who seem to adore the holiday season. The decorating, the parties, the hustle and the bustle — it all seems to make them more alive.

Holiday Cheer

My pastor’s wife is like that. She loves the holiday season and all of it’s activity. She shines her brightest in the holiday season.

Not me. Every year I try to like the holiday. I really do. But I usually just end up tired, weary, and frustrated. I spend a lot of time doing that thing called self-care during my quiet moments of the holiday season. Those quiet moments are few and far between so I try to do the healthy thing when given the chance. Using those still moments to read, watch a movie, or play a game, helps me not to go full Grinch. I experience less weariness and I’m generally more content when I have the proper time to just “veg.”

Holiday Cheer

My brain is either trying to embrace the activity I’m in or it’s in recovery mode. Unfortunately, this leaves little room for inspiration or creativity.

The chiming in of the New Year always feels like a breath of fresh air. I don’t feel pulled in a hundred different directions anymore. Things seem to adjust and re-align properly.

One of those re-alignments is writing.

As someone who enjoys blogging, this makes me happy. Blogging is something I choose to cut during the holiday time because it requires thought, preparation, and more planning than I can give.

Bloggers Life

I would rather put out no post at all than put out a bad/lazy/uninspired post.

But the holidays are over! And I’m back in the saddle again. Okay, so that might have been the most awkward, old-person thing I’ve ever said but you get the idea. 😀

So, what do you have to look forward to in 2019 on this little corner of the web-o-sphere?

Well, I’m so glad you asked! Here are my top 5 blogging focuses for 2019 —

1.Keeping a foundation of Faith

Talking about the Christian faith is my absolute most favorite thing ever and I see no reason to stop! This has always been the main focus of my blog so there’s not much new to report here.

Biblical Ways to Make a Change

2.A regularly scheduled Program

In 2018, I settled into a mostly regular blogging routine. This year I’m going to focus on making this less of a “mostly” and more of a “scheduled” thing. I’m easing my way back into this blogging thing so for now I’m only shooting for two days a week. I would eventually like to add a third post each week but we’ll see.

Along this thread, I’ve been toying with the idea of blog newsletter. I’ve still gotta do some research but I’ve got some ideas floating around.

Time after Time

3.Branching Out

I’ve mostly written about the Christian faith but I’m ready to start building regular additions. At one point, I was sharing regular recipes but dietary changed that had to be made for health reasons have left me sorta outta sorts in the kitchen. I’d like to share more personal posts and even a few creative adventure posts.

What say you? What kinda posts would you like to see? Health? Art? Products I love?

New Things

4.Shopping Options

Did you know I’ve got an Etsy shop? Did you know I sell original artwork? Did you know that said artwork is printed on scarves, mugs, and even leggings? Well, it’s true!

I began blogging as a sort of therapy. I felt trapped and hushed up so I used blogging at my outlet. As years passed, my blogging journey changed. It became less my space-y and more serious. That seriousness started to settle in 2017. However, even then I didn’t read all the “should” advice. I was just sorta winging it (I still am most of time) because I didn’t want to get weighed down by the blogging to-do list. I just wanted to write and enjoy it.

This year, I’m trimming things down and minimizing the number of directions I’m moving in. I want to keep everything I’m doing (painting, writing, and teaching) but I want to better organize my time so I can make that writing category more professional. One way that I’m hoping to accomplish that professionalism is to kick off the option to shop straight from my blog. That way you can purchase my Holy Spirit inspired coffee mugs, a mini-devotional, or even a pair of comfy leggings.

5.Gotta get going with some Giveaways

With things moving and shaking on the blog, I’m preparing for a few giveaways this year. I’ve never done a giveaway so it may be a few weeks before something happens but it is coming!

Coming Soon

I’m so excited for what 2019 has in store. Thanks for your continued support! I can’t wait to see where 2019 takes us!!
