Here in the good ol’ U.S. of A., Labor Day marks the end of summer. I know, I know. Fall stuff has already started creeping up everywhere. Pumpkin flavored everything can be found in every grocery store. But, in my book, it’s still summer until the Tuesday after Labor Day. Then all the pumpkin stuff can come out.
Until then, I’m going to get the most out of my last days of summer by engaging in a few of my Top Nine End of Summer Activities!
Enjoy a local event —
Just about every city, town, and borough has something going on this federal holiday weekend. From food truck events to craft markets! There’s something for everyone and it’s a great way to explore some of the local favor of an area. Even if it’s not your neck of the woods — find something and go!
Go get some ice cream —
Visit a real, legit ice cream shop ice cream. Yes, that was a bit repetitive but I never want my meaning to get lost when I talk about ice cream. Go on! Get a cone and an extra scope. After all, summer’s almost over.
Take a hike —
Pack a lunch and hit the dirt. Explore a park that you’ve never visited. Personally, I’m still waiting to finish the trail over at Gifford Pinchot State Park. It’s not exactly a short hike (9 miles) but it is beautiful.
Enjoy dinner & good friends —
Throw some burgers on the grill, cook up some corn, and finish with some lemonade cupcakes. Invite a few friends. Laugh a lot. Enjoy what could be one of your last meals on the patio this year.
Go for a swim —
Preferable somewhere that is not a pool. Unless, like me the thought of little fishies swirling about your feet weirds you out. Splish and Splash around. Get in those last few cannonballs and don’t forget the sunscreen.
Play an outdoor game —
Try corn hole or redneck horseshoes. Pinterest is loaded with outdoor games. I’m not going to expound upon them all now because you may already have a favorite. Go play!
Take a drive —
Don’t plan a trip. Don’t map your course. Just set out with a full tank of gas and take which ever roads look interesting. Explore the world around you. There’s always something new to discover. Once your gas tank hits it’s halfway mark, then you can turn back on the GPS and make your way home.
Find a Sale —
This one is a bit separated from the others but Labor Day is loaded with end of Summer and pre-Fall sales. So, maybe it’s time to finally buy that things that you’ve been wanting.
Or maybe you should check out my Art of Where shop or my Etsy shop! I’ve just loaded them up with some amazing Fall patterned products. Art of Where has a lot more of my patterned products to choose from but Etsy is running a 15% sale this weekend. Pst: if you find something at Art of Where that hasn’t been uploaded to my Etsy site, send me a message and I’ll get you hooked up. 🙂
Take a deep breath. Enjoy the warm air on your skin. Sit outside and feel the heat. Now go in and take a nap. The holiday chaos will be here before you know it. For now, relax and recall all the wonderful memories that summer made.
